POV: Behind the Scenes at Australian Fashion Week with the instax mini 41™
There’s something about Australian Fashion Week that feels like hitting pause on the everyday. The creativity, the community, the energy. It’s fashion in its most expressive form and this year, we had a front-row seat (and a camera in hand). Armed with the new instax mini 41™, we set out to document the week as it unfolded, on the runway, in the crowd, and everywhere in between. We were lucky enough to head backstage at two of the most talked-about shows of the week: Jordan Gogos and Albus Lumen. The instax mini 41™ came with us every step of the way.
At Jordan Gogos, the standout moment was that dress, crafted from over 200 instax™ mini film prints, clipped together to create a sculptural, wearable piece of art. Seeing it up close backstage was something else entirely. Each print was intentionally placed, forming a textured, photo-layered silhouette that turned heads before it even hit the runway. We used the close-up mode on the mini 41™ to capture the detail, the way the light bounced off each glossy frame, and how it moved as part of the full look. An instant icon, in every sense.
Over at Albus Lumen, things felt calmer but no less special. The brand was celebrating ten years, and you could feel the emotion backstage. Quiet moments of reflection between the chaos. We snapped a few portraits using the built-in selfie mirror, essential for those quick, one-chance-only photos, and the auto exposure worked its magic in the soft backstage light. No harsh flash, no fiddling with settings. Just honest, effortless captures.
Fashion Week, but make it personal
Fashion Week can feel big and overwhelming. But the instax mini 41™ helped us slow things down. To look up, take notice, and actually experience what was happening, rather than just capture it for socials. By the end of the week, our mini prints told a story far bigger than a highlight reel ever could. There were curated shots, sure, but also the unexpected, unplanned moments that make Fashion Week what it is.
