Get Creative with Collages and the instax SQ20

SQ20 collagesIf a picture says a thousand words, then a collage must really have something to say. And the instax SQUARE SQ20 offers the ability to create collages like you’ve never seen before, along with a range of other unique capabilities.

Let’s take a look at the camera itself first; the SQ20 is what’s called a hybrid instant camera. This means that, just like regular instant cameras, you can take a photo and print it immediately. But you can also take the photo, review it on the rear screen and, if needed, retake it before printing on instax square format film.

In real life, people blink, kids make bunny ears behind your back, dogs turn the other way and shadows fall where you don’t expect them. The SQ20 gives you as many test shots as you need to capture moving subjects without using up your film printing by printing a photo each time you hit the shutter button.

Now for the fun part… the collages! With the Timeshift Collage, you can capture four different images, in rapid succession, with the press of one button. The difference between frames can be adjusted from 0.2 seconds to 20 seconds. Think surfing, tennis or even a baby’s first attempts at standing up and walking.

In addition, you can also create unique collages by dividing up one image. Or, keep it classic, by choosing individual images for each segment of your collage, which can be divided into vertical halves, horizontal thirds, quarters or even a frame with nine images.

Remember the range of other capabilities we mentioned earlier? One of those is Bulb Mode, a shooting mode which allows you to tap into your inner artist by keeping the shutter open while the shutter button is pressed. The result? Intriguing night-time photos with streaks of light. Double exposure is another option to keep things interesting.

You can also take advantage of a variety of filters to make your image your own, including Monochrome, Sepia, Luna, Film Frame, Partial Color and Vignette. Frame Grab, meanwhile, allows you to take a video up to 15 seconds long and then grab the best frame from the sequence.

The instax SQUARE SQ20 can give you the convenience — and spur of the moment fun — of regular instant cameras, but it’s also super useful in helping you to get as creative as you want to be. Either way, the results are visually stunning and delivered to your hands in seconds.
